Has anyone else received this? If so, does the last track end abruptly?

Yes, Steve, the recording ends abruptly a couple of seconds before the track itself ends. I assume the tape ran out.

After one listening, I'd say only one of the 1965 demos is really essential - "Working all day" - which must be Jimi's earliest vocal as well as one of his earliest compositions. He sounds great. By contrast, most of the other tracks suffer from Curtis Knight's rather "mannered" vocal style.

As for the studio recordings in the first half of the disc, "Hush Now" and "Love Love" are noticeably improved from any PPX versions I've heard (although I confess I've never had the patience to explore that chapter of Jimi's career exhaustively), and it's interesting to hear "Suey" as I assume it was intended.

The album is a bit of a curate's egg, but I'm pleased to have it.

Call me old fashioned but when did "Dear Sir, we are extremely sorry..." become "Hey there, we are writing..."

I'm surprised they didn't open with "We've had your money for weeks, so we're in no hurry."

that's the least of it!

I'm still waiting on my order. I made a beginners error here, I ordered two Dagger disc titles on CD.

While I got the same delay notice for the Knight release I still do not have my order.

Why? Well silly me, I had to guess that the Knight disc was really available but it was in fact my other CD that is not in stock. Despite taking the money last month they are not prepared to ship the order separately.

I will make comment on the farce when I review the vinyl, got to fit it in somewhere!
