hi steve and the rest,
really nice to see that Jimpress has a forum now. I happily joined right away. I am the one who found the new Hamburg tape from the second show. It is currently negotiated about with several options of what to do with it. So it will not see the light of day until all those things have been thoroughly discussed. What I can tell you is that it has 8 tracks, including Driving South. The first half of the tape sounds very muffled, as the taper hid the mic under his jacket, the last 4 songs (including DS) sound pretty good. Jimi is in great spirits for that show, and the tape has a remarkable version of Hear My Train.
The Stuttgart tape has also just been discovered recently. It is a solid , good sounding show, but not as spirited as the Hamburg performance. Still a very solid Jan. 69 show. It includes the Eire Apparent portion. The tape is not complete, the recent source is from a 2nd gen cassette, but the master has still to be located again (it must be somewhere in the taper´s attic, but he could not find it yet). The Stuttgart show is likely to be circulated pretty soon per request of the taper. So stay tuned for this one.
The tracklist for Stuttgart 19.01.69 is:
Come On / Fire / IDLT / Hey Joe / Foxy Lady (cut) Star Spangled Banner / Purple Haze / Voodoo Chile
reportedly played and most probably also on the master tape are Sunshine of your Love and Red House, which is why we are still looking for the master cassette or the first gen reel that this 2nd gen transfer was made from....
this photo was taken by the taper of the Stuttgart show, so you get an idea about the recording location....

The Rome tape, only know that John McDermott discovered it (or got it from someone, depending how you put it)....the italian blog had some info on it, but I forgot the track list. I think it was reported to sound a bit like the show from Civic Opera Chicago February 68....
hope this helps,
olvator
