http://www.jungle-records.demon.co.uk/skydog.htm

This site informs us that the original Skydog "SKY HIGH" pressing was in fact a "legit' royalties paid version".
I bought my copy back in 1972/73 but not with the fancy cover as is shown in FTBFS part 2, pg133. The cover does contain misleading information in listing the content as being recorded in 1970 Record Plant!
My copy is simply a white card sleeve which was wrapped in plastic with an orange page with black text featuring a picture of Jimi (top left) and Jimmy (bottom right). Original Skydog cat: number on sheet and in the deadwax. A picture of this "cover" is not featured in the referenced Ben Franklin.
The vinyl itself is in excellent condition and simply features a white label on both sides with a large 1 or 2 in black.

So, if the royalties had been paid on the original Skydog pressings these then are legit, no? The following pressings, Trade Mark Of Quality, Great Live Concerts and others would be the bootleg, or rather pirate versions.

Simply a copy of the back of the Skydog sleeve. Some copies also has a Xerox of the front as a second insert. I still don't believe the Skydog is legit. They may have paid someone for the tape but that's all. I doubt we'll ever 100% resolve issues like these.

thats the one.

yes, i doubt we will really know for sure after such a length of time.

we get so many slight differences between the early boot's that it can be a little confusing to say the least. but it is this site that should be gathering in all the differences between issues, and not just this release.

Original Skydog black &white sleeve from 1972 I believe to be first. The TMOQ ones had the xerox insert. Skydog coloured sleeves and odd colours in vinyl started appearing in the early 80´s.
From my experience the TMOQ is a copy of the skydog but still the hardest to find these days, only seen these with the smokin pig. ( see jp 90 p28)

Like Tim's, mine was the b&w cover with blank white record label. Interesting that Jungle may be re-releasing Sky High because they have issued some pre-Experience Jimi material in the past.
Personally I like Sky High, expletives and all, because of the cover versions such as Sunshine of Your Love and Tomorrow Never Knows; it deserves a proper release imo. ;)

We did have part of the jam released officially. Although with all the boots in circulation its hard to remember.
For Real (DJM) 1976? had 1 side of a double LP release of the Jam, then Woke up this Morning (Red Lightning) 1978? High Live and Dirty 1978 Nutmeg?
Probably more but those just came to mind.
