Just saw this on the Steve Hoffman forums, posted by a member in Finland:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was reported that Bo Hansson died today at the age of 67.

Tax Free.

Yes, very sad news...

Hendrix fans know that Jimi recorded Tax Free by Hansson & Karlsson, the 1966-69 organ/drums duo.
But, during the 70´s Bosse Hansson was very big on the Swedish alternative/progressive scene.
I strongly recommend any music fan to listen to his albums from these years:

Sagan om ringen (Lord Of The Rings) 1970 /remix 1972
Ur trollkarlens hatt (Magician´s Hat) 1972
Mellanväsen (Attic Thoughts) 1975
El-Ahrairah (Watership Down) 1977

Great, atmospheric, keyboard-driven instrumental music - all but the first also has the superb guitarist Kenny Håkansson playing.
The best ever Swedish guitarist! (He also led the group Kebnekaise during this period; recommended, as well)
Kenny had previously led/played in Baby Grandmothers and Mecki Mark Men, both whom I believe opened for Jimi on some Swedish concerts.
(Listen, also, to Baby Grandmothers official CD, and Mecki Mark Men´s Running In The Summer Night for nice progressive psych...)

Yes I too was sorry to hear of the death of the "Swedish cat" Bo Hansson. I bought the Hansson and Karlsson cd on Polydor primarily for the inclusion of the original Tax Free but have always wanted to listen to Lord of the Rings but never got around to it.
